MFB firefighters have tackled an early morning blaze at a Carlton pizza shop.

MFB firefighters have tackled an early morning blaze at a Carlton pizza shop.

Crews were called to the premises on Lygon Street about 4.15am after smoke was seen billowing from the building.

Upon entering, firefighters found a fire in the kitchen area of the restaurant.

It took 14 firefighters 25 minites to extinguish the blaze.

The cause will be investigated.
