19 Aug 2010
MFB Chief Executive Officer and Chief Officer Graham Fountain says he is looking forward to working with Fire Services Commissioner Craig Lapsley.

The Premier publicly announced Mr Lapsley's appointment this morning.

Mr Lapsley has a long association with fire and emergency services in Victoria as a volunteer and a career firefighter, as does MFB's CEO/CO. He was a Deputy Chief Officer with CFA before becoming director of Emergency Management for DHS.

"The MFB will be working in close cooperation and collaboration with the new Commissioner, and his office, to deliver the best outcomes for Victoria's emergency services and its communities," said Mr Fountain.

"Whist MFB performed extremely well during the tragedy of the Black Saturday, it is already very well advanced with its own reform program. This program will integrate into the work of the Fire Services Commissioner consistent with our joint objective of improving Victoria's Fire Services."
