MFB and CFA fireys gear up for 14-hour relay for charity

The fifth annual MFB/CFA 'Two Services, One Cause' 14-hour relay is on again.

Every year the members of the MFB and CFA running clubs join forces to raise funds for the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

As part of the relay, a CFA runner and an MFB runner will team up to complete continuous laps of the Bourke Street Mall block in Melbourne’s CBD.

Every year we get a mix of career and volunteer firefighters, and office staff from both fires services.

The aim of the run is to raise awareness of the Good Friday Appeal during the 14-hour period and collect donations for this special cause.

Last year the event raised a whopping $27,115.80, with fireys running 205 laps or the equivalent of running from the CBD to Bendigo.

Come along and support the firefighters who’ve experienced one of the busiest fire seasons in recent years.

The relay event for 2014 will run from 7am to 9pm on Thursday 17 April.
