Incident declared under control after ninety minutes

Just before 4am this morning MFB firefighters attended a chemical incident in Brooklyn.

A Composite Organic Compound had become contaminated and was giving off smoke and vapours.

A Community Warning was issued to alert people in the immediate area of the incident and specialist hazmat crews were on scene, and advice was sought from the MFB Scientific Officer.

Firefighters sparayed water over the vessel containing 700-900kgs of product to cool it and reduce the vapours being given off.

The incident was declared Under Control after ninety minutes.
