MFB attends house fire in Port Melbourne

Fire spread to neighbouring properties

Just after 2.30am this morning MFB received a large number of calls to a house fire in Station Street, Port Melbourne.

Reports were received of one house on fire and the fire catching on to neighbouring properties.

Arriving on scene firefighters attacked the fire internally and externally, and fought to defend adjoining properties that had also been affected. 

A property undergoing renovation was completely destroyed, and the fire entered the roof of the properties either side. Also a house behind sustained minor damage. 

The fire was declared under control in just over an hour and the cause of the fire will be investigated this morning.

Eleven appliances and thirty one firefighters fought the blaze.
