MFB attends truck accident and explosion in Footscray

AV on scene, motorists asked to avoid area

Just before lunchtime today MFB received a call to attend a vehicle accident in Barkly Street, Footscray, and arrived on scene within five minutes. 

Two trucks had collided and one had hit a power pole, causing a large explosion which blew out windows of properties close by, and spread debris across the road.

Ambulance Victoria are in attendance and Police have evacuated local residents as a precaution.

MFB will remain on scene for some time to help determine the cause of the explosion.

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area as roads have been closed.
