MFB crews on scene at factory fire in Albion

MFB crews are in attendance at a factory fire in Ballarat Road Albion.

Additional appliances were despatched after receiving numerous calls from the public.

On arrival MFB crews wearing breathing apparatus commenced an aggressive attack on a fire which involved the rear of an auto wreckers factory, approximately 40 metres by 20 metres in size.

All occupants had evacuated safely. The fire started after combustible liquids and fumes ignited from arching of a battery in the engine compartment of a vehicle being dismantled.

The fire was brought under control in 20 minutes and a Building Surveyor from the Brimbank City Council will be attending to check affected structure for integrity.

Worksafe have also been requested to attend the fire is not suspicious.  Police and Ambulance Victoria are on scene.
