MFB currently tackling house fire in Tennyson Street, Essendon

Flames through the roof and fire not yet under control

Just after 8.30pm MFB crews received calls to a house fire in Tennyson Street, Essendon.

Arriving on scene crews found the single storey weather board house totally involved in fire, with the additional hazard of live power lines across the road in front of the premises.

All occupants had self evacuated, and MFB firefighters using breathing apparatus are currently attacking the fire internally and externally, and are working to protect surrounding properties from damage.

A community warning has been issued for smoke and the general public are being asked to avoid the area.

Nine appliances and twenty eight firefighters are currently tackling the blaze.
