On returning home in the afternoon, a lady owner opened her front door to find the house smoke-logged

The lady entered the Loreen St. Oakleigh South house to look for her cat but was unable due to the smoke and fire. She evacuated and called the MFB at 3.51pm.

On arrival the MFB found the back of the house and roof area well alight.  The fire was quickly extinguished and during the firefighting operations a crew member found the cat and provided some oxygen to revive it.

The cat was taken to the vet for further assessment. The lady was taken to hospital as she was suffering from shock.
