Motorists requested to avoid area, residents please keep windows closed

MFB firefighters are currently tackling  a house fire in View Street, Glenroy.

Just after 1.30pm MFB received the fire call and arrived on scene in just over five minutes.

When crews arrived the house was fully involved in fire, with the potential for the blaze to spread to neighbouring properties.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus have taken control of the fire in the main property which has been destroyed by the blaze, and are now also directing their efforts on the two adjoining properties.

All residents have been accounted for and Ambulance Victoria are on the scene.

Victoria Police are directing traffic and motorists are being asked to avoid the area.

Over 30 firefighters are still tackling the blaze. Due to the smoke local residents are being asked to close their windows and switch off their air conditioning.
