MFB tackling fire in Laverton North

Twenty appliances and seventy firefighters in attendance

MFB firefighters are currently in attendance at a very large scrap metal fire in Laverton North.

The pile of scrap measures approximately 100 metres x 50 metres and is heavily involved in fire, with smoke visible from the Westgate Bridge.

A community advice warning has been issued to warn people to stay away from the area, out of the smoke and shelter in place. 

The fire is not yet under control.

Twenty appliances and seventy firefighters are currently tackling the blaze.
