Malvern East Unit fire

back to list
07 Oct 2010
MFB crews from Malvern & Oakleigh responded to reports of smoke billowing from a single story unit today.

Given the intensity of the smoke prior to their arrival additional crews were responded as well. On arrival it was found the smoke and fire was coming from the roof and windows of the unit, there were no persons at home when MFB crews arrived.

Aggressive work by firefighters reduced the fire intensity and by opening windows and removing tiles allowed the heated smoke to dissipate, thus reducing the overall damage. Whilst Fire Investigators will attend later, a crew will be in attendance during the day to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
