MFB is reminding motorists to take care on slippery, wet roads after an accident in Mount Waverley this afternoon.

Rescue operators were called to Blackburn Road near the Waverley Private Hospital at 1.13pm.

On arrival crews found a car wrapped around a power pole, with a middle-aged man trapped in the driver’s seat.

Firefighters conducted a delicate extrication while Ambulance Victoria paramedics monitored the man’s health and wellbeing.

It took approximately half an hour to free the man, who will be transported to hospital for assessment.

VicRoads and Victoria Police will investigate whether water across the road caused the accident.

MFB urges all motorists to take extra care on the roads in wet and stormy conditions.

This is the second accident on Blackburn Road today.
