Man trapped down sewage drain in Mentone

MFB firefighters are currently working to rescue a man trapped down sewage drain at Lower Dandenong Road in Mentone.

Crews received the call just after 8:30am this morning with more than 20 firefighters including aerial appliances being utilised.

Rescuing the man is a delicate operation and crews are expected to be on scene for some time.

Update as of 10:08am

MFB crews successfully retrieved a man who had fallen down a sewage drain at 9:55am this morning. 

Specialists from MFB’s High Angle Rescue Team devised a plan to safely remove the individual. 

The man has been placed in the care of Ambulance Victoria.
