Meadow Heights blaze under investigation

Police and fire investigators will investigate the cause of a Meadow Heights house fire overnight.

A single storey unit in Rocklands Rise, Meadow Heights, was severely damaged by fire last night.

Several calls from the public were received and fire crews assisted by CFA arrived shortly before 2am to find the unit well alight.

Efforts were taken to protect neighbouring properties.

Nobody was at home at the time of fire and there were no injuries.

It took about 30 minutes declare the fire under control.

Damage is estimated to be in excess of $250,000.

The cause is yet to be determined and will be investigated by the MFB Fire Investigation Unit in daylight hours.

Victoria Police will also attend.
