Meadow Heights home destroyed by fire

A Meadow Heights home has been completely destroyed after fire tore through early this morning.

The home was fully alight when crews arrived just after 5.30am and extra crews were despatched to provide additional resources.

Quick work by those first arriving crews averted the fire from spreading to the house next door.

The house a brick veneer single story 30mx10m has been severely damaged in the fire.

Due to the damage to the property a search was not possible but it is believed that the house was vacant.

A community alert was issued due to smoke.

The fire took 30 minutes to bring under control and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The damage bill is expected to exceed $250,000.

Crews will be on scene most of the morning.

Breathing apparatus was in use.
