13 May 2019
MFB firefighters remain at the scene after a fire broke out at a café in Thornbury this evening.

Crews were called to the premises on High Street just after 5:30pm after a Triple Zero (000) caller sighted flames coming from the kitchen.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled the fire internally and brought it under control within minutes. Crews will conduct a thorough check of adjoining shops to ensure there are no hot spots and the fire is completely extinguished.

One individual self-evacuated prior to MFB’s arrival. No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
