Crews battle Watsonia North house fire

MFB was called to a Norman Avenue property at 11:45pm last night.

Crews arrived in just over 5 minutes to find the 10 by 20 mere home fully involved and threatening adjoining homes.

Firefighters in Breathing Appartus attacked the blaze to stop it from spreading, and it was declared under control at 12:14am.

The fire was caused by unattended cooking on the stove.

The home's occupants had self-evacuated before crews arrived and there were no injuries.

There were no working smoke alarms in the house.
Smoke alarms are compulsory in every home and can save lives.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria assisted on scene.
