Firefighters on trail of hoon driver in Oakleigh

Firefighters helped police nab an alleged hoon driver following a crash in Oakleigh last night.

Crews were called to Heath Avenue just before 1am after a car crashed into a power box and fence causing significant damage.

The driver allegedly fled the scene.

Oakleigh firefighters were returning to the station when they spotted a trail of car fluid leading to a nearby house and a person running inside.

They called police with their suspicions and officers attended and arrested a man at the scene.
