28 Nov 2018
MFB crews are currently on scene at a gas leak in Sandringham after a local kindergarten called Triple Zero (000) noting a strong smell of gas outdoors.

Firefighters were notified of the incident at 11:12am with the first crew arriving on scene in less than six minutes. The leak was caused by a severed auger nearby at Abbot Street.

More than 20 firefighters including the Hazmat unit worked hard to identify and isolate the leak. The incident was declared under control in just over an hour.

Thankfully there were no reported injuries.

MFB crews will continue liaise with the gas company to ensure the area is completely safe.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria are also in attendance.
