MFB crews have been called to a construction site in Fitzroy North this morning after a worker fell from a scaffold.

The male patient, believed to be approximately 30 years old, ended up about 5 metres below ground level.

MFB's High Angle Rescue Team (HART) was despatched to the site due to the location of the patient being difficult to access.

The HART crew set up a gantry to winch the patient to ground level in a stretcher so Ambulance Victoria could attend to him.

It's believed the patient may have suffered some spinal injuries.

At 9:25am the patient was successfully winched to ground level.
