22 people evacuated their homes and 41 attended the relief centre

Ambulance Victoria paramedics saw 18 people at the relief centre and assessed 5 of those. They were then transported to homes of relatives or hotels.

Four other reports of respiratory problems believed to be linked to the fire came through Triple Zero between 12:30am and 5am.

Two men were transported to hospital in a stable condition.

The fire, at the SKM recycling plant, started just before 9am yesterday and is contained within the perimeter of the plant but is not yet under control.

Mild weather conditions are helping MFB and CFA crews suppress the fire but it is not yet known when the fire will be extinguished.

Approximately 35 appliances and 160 personnel (firefighters and incident management staff) are on the scene.

A relief centre has been set up at the Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre, 41-85 Tanderrum Way, Broadmeadows

A community meeting will be held at 11am today at the relief centre.
