Approximately 35 MFB firefighters were called to a house fire on Flinders Street in Mentone just after 11am this morning

At the peak of the fire there were 15 appliances, with the first arriving on scene in just under six minutes.

They were confronted with a timber and brick home fully alight with significant smoke and flames.

The fire spread to the properties either side and firefighters in Breathing Apparatus were able to bring the blaze under control after 50 minutes.

Thankfully all individuals safely evacuated prior to firefighters arriving.

MFB Fire Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.

CFA appliances also assisted on scene.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were also in attendance.
