Interstate agencies assist at Coolaroo fire

South Australia, New South Wales and the ACT have deployed assets to assist MFB and CFA crews at the Coolaroo recycling plant fire.

Fire Rescue New South Wales (FRNSW) is sending two CAFS Bulk Water Tankers as well as a Turbine Aided Firefighting robot (TAF 20). These are being transported overnight.

Eight FRNSW firefighters will crew the CAFS and two firefighters will man the TAF 20.

The South Australian Country Fire Service will also deploy two CAFS Tankers and a logistics vehicle which is scheduled to arrived around midnight.

The crews will be made up of eight firefighters who will crew the CAFS, one Field Commander and an Assistant. They will commence operations in the morning.

ACT Fire and Rescue has deployed two CAFS Tankers and a command vehicle to arrive at midnight.

The crews will be made up of 6 firefighters who will crew the CAFS and 1 Commander. They will also commence operations in the morning.

The fire, at the SKM recycling plant, started just before 9am on Thursday and is contained within the perimeter of the plant but is not yet under control.

A community relief centre has been set up at the Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre, 41-85 Tanderrum Way, Broadmeadows.
