MFB crews tackle unit fire in Sutherland St, Malvern East

Multiple Triple Zero (000) calls were received for smoke issuing from the roof of a unit in Sutherland St, Malvern East just before 10:30am this morning.

MFB is currently on scene tackling the fire involving a single storey brick unit measuring 10 X 10 metres.

No surrounding structures are threatened by the fire at this stage.

Upon arrival crews found the unit totally involved in fire and additional appliances were dispatched at the request of firefighters on scene.

Initial reports indicate no-one is home however firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are conducting an internal primary search to ensure no-one is inside the structure.

The fire is not yet under control.

A cause has not been established at this early stage.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria are also on scene assisting MFB at the incident.
