Man rescued from Yarra River

MFB firefighters were called to rescue a man just after 5 this morning following reports he was stuck waist deep in the Yarra River at Hawthorn.

MFB's High Angle Rescue Team attended as the incident was 15 metres down an embankment. 

Upon arrival HART set up retrieval lines to remove the male from the river. 

The MFB Waterways Emergency Response team also attended to ensure the safety of all in attendance working around the water.

The male sustained minor injuries and was cared for by Ambulance Victoria once safely up the embankment.

The successful rescue took 40 minutes.
