MFB firefighters were called to Governor Road, Mordialloc, at about 11.30am following reports of smoke and flames issuing from a unit.

Crews arrived to find the single storey unit well alight.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus conducted a search of the property but luckily, no one was inside at the time.

The fire was under control in about 25 minutes.
