Reservoir house fire under control in six minutes

MFB firefighters have responded to a house fire in Banff Street, Reservoir following multiple calls to triple-zero.

 Crews were on scene in under 6 minutes.

The fire at the rear of the premises, involved a BBQ gas bottle and had spread into the roof space of the property. 

All occupants had self-evacuated however firefighters in Breathing Apparatus conducted a search to ensure no other occupants were in the house. 

Crews entered the roof space to extinguish the fire.

One occupant of the house was treated by AV for minor burns to his hands and smoke inhalation.

It's believed the building may contain asbestos, firefighters are enacting procedures to minimize risk to crews and the public.

The fire was declared under control in 6 minutes however MFB will remain on scene for a number of hours. 

Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police are assisting.

At this stage the cause of the fire is yet to be established.
