MFB crews made quick work to extinguish a house fire in Reservoir this evening.

Firefighters were called to initial reports of a rubbish fire that was spreading just after 8pm. Upon arrival crews found that a single story weatherboard home on Purinuan Road had caught fire and called for additional resources.

Approximately 20 firefighters worked to contain the blaze and the damage was limited to the kitchen area.

The fire was declared under control in 20 minutes.

There were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire has been deemed suspicious and has been handed over to Victoria Police.
