Firefighters have evacuated three people following a fire which ripped through a milk bar in the early hours of this morning.

Crews were called to the premises in Barry Road, Campbellfield, following several Triple Zero (000) calls and arrived just after 4.30am to find the building in flames.

Firefighters quickly entered the shop and evacuated three people from the heavily smoke-logged upstairs residence.

They managed to get the fire under control within about 30 minutes.

Firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading and contain the damage to the shop itself.

The trio have been checked by paramedics but it appears they were not injured.
