Two businesses damaged in Southbank fire

A pho restaurant and massage parlour have been evacuated after a fire in Southbank this afternoon.

Crews were called to the two-storey building on Clarendon Street at 2.13pm.

On arrival firefighters reported large amounts of smoke issuing from the second level and called for extra appliances to be dispatched.

Two teams of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the structure to conduct an internal attack on the fire which is believed to be in the roof area of the shop.

There were no reports of any injuries. The fire was declared under control in 30 minutes

At this early stage of the fire the cause is yet to be determined.

Police and Ambulance are in attendance assisting the MFB

The public is advised to avoid the area for the next few hours.
