More than 20 firefighters battle fatal house fire in Thomastown

Firefighters arrived at the Burwood Court property just after midnight following multiple Triple Zero calls for a house fire and reports of explosions coming from the property.

Within six minutes, firefighters were on scene and attacking the blaze wearing Breathing Apparatus.

The fire had taken hold of a bungalow at the rear of the property and initial reports indicated there was a person unaccounted for.

Unfortunately the missing person was later found deceased.


The blaze was declared under control after 27 minutes, with the 3.5m x 20m bungalow severely damaged by fire.


The cause is unknown and will be investigated by Victoria Police.
