More than fifty firefighters battling Brooklyn tip fire

More than fifty firefighters are battling a fire at a Brooklyn rubbish tip tonight.

Crews were called to the Bunting Road property at 7.26pm

Smoke could be seen from the CBD and a community warning was issued for residents living in the area.

The fire measures approximately 40 by 40 metres and consists of recycled rubber and plastics.

The fire was escalated just before 9pm and additional appliances sent to assist with water access.

There are about 14 trucks and 50 firefighters working to contain the blaze.

Crews are expected to remain on scene for several hours to come
