A man has been taken to hospital with burns following a fire in Thornbury this afternoon.

It's believed the man was starting his motorbike outside his Clarendon St home about 4.30pm when it ignited, causing a number of items surrounding the house to catch fire.
The fire quickly spread to the fence and flames were beginning to lap the roof when MFB firefighters arrived.
They set to work quickly and managed to get the fire extinguished within minutes.
The middle-aged man was taken to the Austin Hospital with what are believed to be minor burns to his hands.
