Firefighters responded to a fire on McBain St at 10:35pm last night.

Crews arrived on scene in just over four minutes to find two units well alight.

Firefighters in Breathing Apparatus attacked the blaze to stop it spreading to the other two units in the complex.

They attempted to search for occupants and were able to determine that one unaccounted occupant was not in the unit.

Crews implemented asbestos procedures due to the age of the buildings.

The fire was brought under control at 11:22pm.

Two of the units were severely damaged and structually unsound. A third unit was also damaged.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria assisted on scene.
