Northcote Fire

A two-storey unit in Northcote has been extensively damaged by fire.

The blaze started just before midnight on the ground floor of the Frank Ford Court building and quickly spread to involve both levels. No-one was injured as the two residents were away visiting friends.

A neighbouring unit was heavily smoke-logged and its occupants have had to
seek alternative accommodation for the evening.

The fire took 20 minutes to bring
under control. Damage was extensive and the cause is under investigation.
