Nursing home fire quickly extinguished

MFB firefighter’s have quickly extinguished a fire that broke out in a nursing home early this morning in Hampton East.

Crews were alerted to the residence on Bluff Rd by the automatic fire alarm at 5:57am for a fire on the first level of the property.

The sprinkler system successfully activated and suppressed the fire to the area of origin. The fire also generated a significant amount of smoke on the first level.

The incident was deemed under control in 30 minutes.

A number of residents were safely evacuated and Ambulance Victoria was on scene to ensure the welfare of the residents.

No injuries were reported.

 

The fire has been deemed suspicious and Victoria Police will investigate the incident.
