Occupant flees Mount Waverly house fire

Firefighters have battled a house fire in Mount Waverly early this morning.

Multiple calls were received for a house fire in Hansen Street, Mount Waverley, just before 7am this morning.
Based on the number of calls and information received the call was upgraded.
MFB crews proceeding to the fire upgraded the call further.   When they arrived they found the rear of the single storey brick residence fully alight. 
The occupant of the house had evacuated safely before crews arrived.
Aggressive work by firefighters in Breathing Apparatus lead to the fire being contained to the rear section of the house and was declared under control after 18 minutes.
At this stage the cause is unknown and will be investigated, damage to the property is estimated at approx. $150,000. 
Ambulance Victoria also attended the scene
