Plumber receives serious facial burns in West Sunshine explosion

A plumber has sustained serious facial burns this afternoon while working on a gas hot water service.

The explosion occurred at 2.40pm on Allison Street in West Sunshine.

MFB firefighters were quickly on scene to provide first aid to the workman, and ensure that the fire was extinguished. The male in his 40’s, was treated on scene by paramedics and subsequently transported to the Alfred Hospital by ambulance.

He had been working on the gas hot water service when it exploded.

The fire was confined to the hot water service.

Worksafe and Energy safe have been informed.
