Police and firefighters injured following Middle Park explosion

Three police officers and two firefighters have been injured after an explosion in Middle Park this evening.

The following update has been provided by Victoria Police:
Emergency services attended the Hambleton Street flat following reports of a male threatening suicide about 9.15pm.
Upon arrival, the firefighters gained entry to the 2nd floor flat and as the police entered a large explosion occurred.
Three police officers were seriously injured and were taken to The Alfred hospital.
Two female police officers are in a critical condition and a male police officer is critical but stable.
Two firefighters were also injured, along with the male occupant. 
Victoria Police are investigating.
