Police investigating building fire in Reservoir

Firefighters praised for containing blaze.

Extensive fire and smoke damage impacted a shop fronted building and its contents on Monday 16 February.

Crews were cakked ti the Andrews Avenue property at 8.48am.

The shop was being used for storage.

On scene within minutes, MFB firefighters were able to prevent further spread to adjoining premises which also contained a large fuel load.

A search was conducted to confirm that no-one was inside. Commander Steve Watts praised the efforts of firefighters.

The fire took 35 minutes to bring under control.

Large amounts of smoke issued from the fire and a community warning was issued.

No injuries were reported.

The fire has been deemed of a suspicious nature and police are investigating.
