Police to investigate suspicious St Albans fire

A St Albans home was partially destroyed by suspicious fire on Friday night.

Crews were called to the single storey, brick veneer home on Kings Road at 8.30pm on 22 August.

The back of the house was fully alight, when firefighters arrived on scene, and additional firefighting appliances were called on to assist.  MFB firefighters searched and confirmed that the house was vacant.

A minor explosion behind a door hit a firefighter.  He was checked over by ambulance and returned shortly after to duties.

The fire took 20 minutes to bring under control.

MFB Firefighters and police have been on site through the evening.

The fire was deemed suspicious and police are investigating.
