Preston unit fire

MFB firefighters have made quick work of a fire which engulfed a Preston block of flats this evening.

Crews were called to the Eric Street address just after 9.30pm and arrived to find flames emnating from the windows of the property.

The fire quickly penetrated the roof of the building but crews managed to get the incident under control within 35 minutes.

Two people were evacuated from an upper storey unit. They were assessed by paramedics on scene and did not require hospital treatment.

The cause of the fire will be investigated.
