Strategic and Business Plans

Sharing Emergency Management Victoria's vision of "safer and more resilient communities", MFB is actively engaged in helping shape and contribute to this outcome through our own MFB Plan.

The Plan is our clear commitment to the activities we are undertaking to help the emergency services sector achieve its shared vision of safer and more resilient communities, and for us to achieve our mission to deliver a world class fire and emergency service to Melbourne and Victoria through highly trained and well equipped firefighters and corporate & technical support staff.

The MFB Plan 2018-2019 focuses on five strategic themes that underpin the things most important to us right now and those things that take the organisation forward in the longer term. Our strategic initiatives and performance measures are aligned to these strategic themes: (1) Always Safe, (2) Valuing our People, (3) Working with Others, (4) Delivering Exceptional Service, and (5) Improving Community Safety and Resilience.

The core purpose of MFB is to deliver excellent fire and rescue services to the Metropolitan District and wider Victorian community through its Operational Preparedness, State Capability, Community Resilience and Operational Response functions. MFB will ensure our capacity and capabilities are world class and reflect the needs of the Victorian community.
