29 Dec 2018
MFB crews worked quickly to protect a children’s centre that was threatened by fire early this morning in Travancore.

Firefighters were alerted of a house fire on Flemington St at 2:02am and arrived on scene within minutes of receiving the call. Crews were met with a single storey brick veneer home fully alight and partially collapsed.

Using aerial appliances, more than 20 firefighters in breathing apparatus fought the blaze externally whilst protecting a nearby children’s centre.

The fire was brought under control in 35 minutes.

No injuries have been reported.

The fire has been deemed suspicious and Victoria Police will investigate.
