Residents evacuated after gas leak in Brunswick East

Crews are responding to a gas leak in Blyth Street, after a large, high pressure gas main was ruptured by excavating equipment at 3:30pm

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using a ground monitor to disperse the gas cloud.

Nearby residents have been evacuated from the area and Blyth Street has been closed to traffic.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria are also assisting at the scene.
