Shisha bar up in smoke

A shisha bar cafe was extensively damaged by fire early this morning.

Firefighters were called to the cafe on Bakers Road in Coburg North about 1.38am.

A motel that adjoined the cafe was affected by smoke and 15 of the guests were evacuated.  They were able to return once the fire was extinguished. Police on scene assisted with the evacuation.

The fire took just over half an hour to bring under control and the value of the damage is not yet available.

There were no reports of any injuries.

The cause of the fire has been deemed suspicious and Police will be investigating.
