Shop fire in Johnston St Collingwood

Due to its location in a busy street there were many calls reporting the fire.

On arrival MFB crews found that the fire had burnt into the roof space of the second-hand bric-a-brac store.  The shop is in a single-storey building, adjoining a restaurant.

Crews performed an internal attack on the fire, containing it to a rear mezzanine section and some of the roof structure.   The fire took 33 minutes to bring under control.

Estimated damage is approximately $200,000 and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
