MFB firefighters have extinguished a blaze which broke out at a Gladstone Park shopping centre this morning.

MFB firefighters have extinguished a blaze which broke out at a Gladstone Park shopping centre this morning.

Passers by spotted smoke billowing from the top of the roof and phoned Triple Zero (000), raising the alarm.

It’s believed the fire began in the food court of the Gladstone Park Drive premises about 11.45am.

Around 250 people were evacuated from inside the shopping centre as a safety precaution, along with 77 children from a nearby child care centre.

The blaze was quickly brought under control however firefighters will remain on scene to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.

Ambulance Victoria is in attendance however it’s believed no one was injured during the incident.
