Smoke alarm alerts couple to Greensborough house fire

A couple has been treated for smoke inhalation after a kitchen fire.

Crews were called to the Amiet Street home just after 2am.

A number of calls resulted in extra appliances being despatched early to this house fire.

The single story house was well alight when the first appliance arrived on scene.

Crews sprayed water onto adjoining properties to protect them from the intensity of the blaze.

The house constructed of weatherboard with a tiled roof was severely damaged in the early morning blaze.

The fire took 40 minutes to bring under control the cause of the fire isbelieved to be unattended food stuffs on the stove crews remained on scene overnight.

The two occupants a male and a female were treated by Ambulance Victoria.

A Community advice was issued for smoke in the area.

The damage bill is expected exceed $100,000
